We Remember: A Staten Island Gun Violence Memorial
A Project of the Community Partnerships and Victim Services Unit of the Office of the Richmond County District Attorney Michael E. McMahon
June 21 -July 28, 2024
Mothers and families of loved ones lost to gun violence gathered at the Staten Island Museum in June 2024, National Gun Violence Awareness Month, to create shadow boxes in memory of their loved ones. We Remember is a memorial to the Staten Islanders we have loved and lost. Inspired by The Gun Violence Memorial Project, this exhibition provides a space for remembrance and healing for all individuals impacted by gun violence.
Gun violence is a national epidemic that touches every community in America. Gun Violence Awareness Month was created to draw attention to this tragic reality and demand life-saving change for all communities. This memorial seeks to preserve memories and highlight the lives and identities of those we have lost.
