STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Live music and performances, food sampling, an artisan market and family-friendly activities were the order of the day as hundreds celebrated the Soorya NYC Festival of Sri Lankan culture & traditions at the Staten Island Museum on Saturday.

Soorya, translated as “Sun,” presents folk and traditional arts to encourage cultural exchange centered on the local Sri Lankan community. It helps to sustain the continuity of Sri Lankan heritage in NYC and shares these traditions with the broader public.
